I started Fitfellas & Wonderwomen in 2016 because I wanted to encourage older people to get back into exercise or to start from scratch.
Most of us are aware of the health benefits of regular exercise, but having spent most of my working life as a GP, I realised that a lot of older people are nervous, or unsure about, attending exercise classes.
In 2015, I decided to train as a fitness instructor, and have a level 4 qualification in exercise for older adults.
Men and women of all levels of fitness attend the classes and it's a very supportive and fun environment. It's especially rewarding to see people with no previous experience of exercising, and those with chronic health conditions, enjoying the classes and improving.
